Before you set out
Water
Carry at least 1.5 litres of water per person. Springs and village cafés along the way may be dry or closed outside the summer season.
Wind & weather
In summer the meltemi blows hard on exposed ridges and coastal paths. Avoid the midday heat from June to September and check the forecast before you leave.
Waymarks & roads
Cycling routes (B01–B07) follow mostly quiet asphalt and dirt roads. Take care with traffic on the island’s main road.
Offline app
Mobile signal is patchy in gorges and remote areas. Download the route and the map in the Kythera Trails app before you set out.
